That's When My Life Begins!!!

Look at it all, so big, do I even dare?

Look at me, here at last, I just have to do it!

Should I?

No...

Here I go!!!

I know in the last year I've just been the greatest at keeping up on this blog, but thank you to everyone who read it. Now, I'm off to Mexico and then Ecuador. You can follow my new adventures at kaelainquito.blogspot.com

Knowing this blog, I should have something really deep and philosophical to say at this point, some ultra long post of my scattered thoughts, but I've got nothing. Just a range of emotions, ranging from excited to scared and everything in between.

But I know as I begin this next chapter of my life that it will be the greatest one yet. There is nothing I would rather be doing then sharing the joy of the gospel with the wonderful people of Ecuador. Everyone, the gospel is so wonderfully true! If I didn't know that with all of my heart, I wouldn't be leaving on a mission.

I wish you all the very best!! I love you all so much, all you wonderfully random readers!!

I'll see you in 18 months :)

Love,
Hermana Kaela Carter

What Kind of Missionary Am I Going To Be?

I realize I haven't posted in a while and that is because I am a dirty rotten scumbag.

I've actually been busy. Weird.

Busy playing Candy Crush. Haha level 70 is the DEVIL.

No, I've been dboing about a million of mission prep and I am loving every second of it.

As more and more of my friends have been leaving on missions, and interacting with hundreds of missionaries daily with my previous job (which I never did blog about...my bad...) I've put a lot of thought into what kind of missionary I will be like. So, here's how it is.

I will definitely quote movies, all the time. Mean Girls, Pitch Perfect, The Office, and Nacho Libre. I will be in MEXICO and then ECUADOR for heavens sake. Yeah, I'm going to quote Nacho Libre.

My companions are either going to think I'm weird, or funny, if I'm lucky. For example, as long as I'm in Ecuador, I might as well plank on the Equator because WHY NOT.

You had better believe I'm bringing the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit soundtracks with me. If the MoTab can sing "In Dreams" then IT COUNTS. Nothing gets me going like The Song of the Lonely Mountain.

Among other things. I don't really know. I'm planning on my mission being the thing that finally makes me mature, ya know?

So, I will most definitely have my quirks, and I'm definitely going to keep trying to make people laugh. Y'all had better read my new blog, kaelainquito.blogspot.com for some dope letters home. But with all the jokes, the laughs, the quirks, the quotes, and the planking, when it's all said and done, the number one thing I want people to say about me is:

"Sister Carter was a great missionary. She worked hard. She was a consecrated missionary."

There is a fantastic talk by Elder Tad R. Callister called "Becoming a Consecrated Missionary" and it is nearly impossible to find on the interwebs but I have it saved as a word document. But I read it this morning and it spells out exactly the type of missionary I want to become. It is essentially to put everything on the alter of sacrifice: fears, disobedience, pride, selfishness, etc., and to just get out there and give it your all.

You can Google that if you want, and I would highly suggest that you do because it is awesome. But here is a quote by Elder Holland, who is also awesome, that spells it out pretty clearly too. The below image is in fact a screenshot because I don't have time to type that all out.

I hope I'm up to the task.

Love,
Kaela
